Sotheby’s will hold a two-day auction on April 3 and April 4 in Hong Kong that will include wines from famed (and closed) Spanish restaurant elBulli going on the first day. The wines will include a “specially designed elBulli sticker” and in some cases be signed by the restaurant’s chef Ferran Adrià and manager Juli Soler. Auction items will include dinner with Adrià, where he will hopefully reduce an entire pig to a spoonful of foam set atop a quail egg and crouton as a tribute to the Western breakfast (sorry, it’s 5 AM here, and I’m hungry) and the sale of memorabilia from elBulli’s kitchen. Sotheby’s says there will be 445 lots of wines with an estimated value of HK$6–8 million or US$750,000–1 million.

April 3 will also see a second sale of 397 lots, from “A Great American Collector” — just once I’d like to see a “Not-so-great Collector” get a chance — with wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and California, while April 4 will see the auction of 620 lots, including bottles directly from Vega Sicilia:

Headlining the various-owner sale is a spectacular selection of 234 lots of wines direct from the legendary Spanish winery Bodegas Vega Sicilia. Highlights include a vertical lot with 22 magnums from 1970 to 1999 from winery owner Pablo Álvarez’s personal collection, as well as 42 vintages of Vega Sicilia Único between 1941 and 2002 in multiple formats. Adding to the iconic Vega Sicilia Único, Reserva Especial and Valbuena No. 5, there is also a fabulous range of wines from Grupo Vega Sicilia including Alión from Ribera del Duero, Pintia from Toro and Tokaji Oremus from Hungary.
