Double whammy | Wine to Asia Shenzhen postponed again due to COVID-19

Wine to Asia in Shenzhen has been postponed a second time due to growing concerns about the spread of COVID-19 in China. Originally slated for June 8 to June 10, the fair was moved to August 12 to 14, but the organizers stated today that it must once again be postponed.

Wine to Asia’s announcement cites a notice by the Shenzhen Center of Disease Control and Prevention in regard to a outbreak of COVID-19 cases in Nanjing and its spread in other parts of China.

Along with strong presences from top wine producing nations, Wine to Asia has also pushed the envelope by focusing on wine and alcohol trends and niches, including a planned repeat of its Living Wine pavilion from last year and a new area focused on coffee culture and cocktails. There were intriguing events focused on Brazilian, Slovenian and Chinese wine, a first-ever San Marino wine master class in China, and, with this blog’s sibling World Baijiu Day, a baijiu cocktail master lab featuring bars Sanyou in Guangzhou and Compass in Shenzhen.

Grape Wall site has been partnering with Wine to Asia on holding a Marselan blending master lab by winemaker Tong Lili. Such a lab had also been planned for June and, when the trade fair was postponed, moved to Beijing — here are a few photos.
