Wine distribution in China | ASC inks exclusive deal with Delicato

By Jim Boyce | ASC has announced an exclusive distribution deal with California wine operation Delicato for continental China. The deal covers brands like Delicato Family Vineyards, Gnarly Head and Irony and, says a spokesperson, starts immediately.

Delicato was previously distributed by Summergate, which signed a deal with Kendall-Jackson, a former ASC client, some six months ago. ASC also picked up Summergate brand Yalumba in April.

An ASC press release cites David DeBoer, international general manager of Delicato, as saying, “we are excited about expanding our market presence and driving key brand-building initiatives that ultimately will see our fine wines in even more restaurants and homes of Chinese consumers.”

It adds that along with traditional outlets like restaurants and retail shops, ASC has “committed substantial investment towards growing distribution and sales through e-commerce, with specific focus dedicated to its partnership with Alibaba’s Tmall.com, a major online store in China.”

ASC also handles U.S. labels such as Cakebread, Joseph Phelps, Kosta Browne, Shafer, Staglin, Stag’s Leap, Chateau Ste Michelle, and Erath.
