China wine news: ASC appoints Bruno Baudry as CEO

Bruno Baudry will become CEO of importer and distributor ASC Fine Wines on June 1, according to a recent press release from the company. He replaces John Watkins, who joined ASC in 2012 when company co-founder Don St. Pierre Jr moved from being CEO to executive chairman. St Pierre Jr relocated to the United States in 2014 and moved to an advisory role at Suntory, which bought a controlling share of ASC in 2009.

From the ASC press release:

Bruno Baudry has more than fifteen years of success in the international wine industry, having a strong knowledge of most Asian Pacific markets and excellent networks in the wine business world, especially in France, Spain and Italy….

From 1999 – 2013, Baudry was with the Castel Group of France, first serving as President, Castel Japan K.K. and Managing Director, Castel Asia.  From 2011 – 2013, he concurrently held the position of Chief Representative of Castel Singapore.  From 2013 – 2015, Baudry was the Executive Director of Codorniu S.A. and Managing Director, Codorniu Asia, the positions he leaves to join ASC.

ASC imported over ten million bottles of wine in 2014, says the company.
