This annual event typically has lots of unintentional comedy, from inebriated shoppers running carts into walls to outraged French trade people decrying other countries’ “prostitute wines”. There are also plenty of deals.

This year, wine starts at rmb29 per bottle for ‘Bons Moment” Cabernet Sauvignon from France and there are about two dozen other options under rmb60. There are also buy three bottles, get three free deals on bubbly from Argentina, Spain, Italy and France, which translates to half-price. See all of the wines and prices here.

As always, Carrefour has in the past provided wine glasses not much larger than an egg cup, so I recommend you bring your own — or buy some in the store — and enjoy the festivities in style.
